45/365 The Crazy Monster Cows from Mars Return!

On Sunday the young Somawangs went to explore more hiking opportunities around Lake Kaweah.  Back in my livejournal days circa 2003-2007ish I once wrote about Andrew and I taking our canoe across Lake Kaweah in the wintertime when the water was really calm.  On our hike that afternoon we came across some cows roaming around in the hills.  We didn't think to much of them until they started following us.  Then I got really freaked out.  They ended up practically chasing us back to our canoe.  When we got in to our canoe there were about 10-15 cows standing within 20 feet of us staring.  One even came running at us kicking up it's feet which Andrew called "trying to play with us".  The next time we went on a hike I made sure Andrew brought his paintball gun to scare them away.  Well the paintball gun worked at first to keep the cows away but I swear the few went and got their friends and again we were chased back to our canoe.  I had never had an experience like that with cows!!

On Sunday, we ran in to some cows in the same area that we had hiked years before.  I was pretty spooked!  The cows were very aware of us being there.  I was especially nervous since Springtime is mating season and there were a few calves in the herd.  I found it really interesting that at one point all the calves and what looked like the mother cows ran off leaving only the males.  That's when I was like um, lets get the heck out of here!  It is so funny that both Ashley and I were nervous but the guys weren't even phased!  If I can't go hiking in the foothills around Lake Kaweah I don't know how I will ever be able to go in to the National Parks and feel safe!
